Stay fit and help a good cause as well. The Mount Franklin Cardiac Challenge will be from September 17 – 19 in Cairns.
The Mount Franklin Cardiac Challenge is an annual three-day recreational bike ride and camping trip all for a good cause. This fundraising event raises money for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, which endeavours to improve cardiac care in the Far North through the purchase of specialised equipment. Taking place in the September holidays, this is a family-friendly event, which welcomes both amateur and experienced cyclists.
The planned route begins in Cairns, travels up the Kuranda range, goes through Speewah, Mareeba, Mt. Molloy, Mt. Carbine, the Desailey Range and Lakeland before finishing up in Cooktown. Along the way, a vast variety of different terrains and environments will be traversed, from the lush, tropical beauty of World Heritage rainforest to rolling pastures and rocky mountains.
